What Does Our IOP Include?

Intensive Outpatient Program operates at ASAM Level 2.1. Carolina Center for Recovery’s IOP delivers 9 hours of structured clinical programming per week across 3 sessions for adults 18 and over with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. Morning and evening tracks support continued employment during active treatment.

Carolina Center for Recovery’s adult intensive outpatient program serves those who require structured clinical programming beyond standard outpatient care but do not require the higher daily intensity of a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).

IOP services are is indicated for clients stepping down from inpatient or PHP, clients with elevated relapse risk, and clients managing co-occurring mental health conditions that require integrated treatment.

IOP treatment differs from PHP in clinical hours per week. IOP delivers 9 hours per week. PHP delivers more than 20. IOP supports continued employment.

Intensive outpatient program attendance is 3 hours per session, 3 sessions per week. Length of stay is typically 60 to 90 days based on clinical progress and step-down readiness criteria. Step-down from IOP is to outpatient (OP, ASAM 1.0).

IOP attendance is 3 sessions per week (3 hours per session). Programming includes process group therapy, individual therapy with the assigned licensed clinician, and psychiatric medication management.
